Dear Parents and Carers
Spring term 1 has now flown past with its fair share of rain. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the PE department for continually being flexible with the sports they deliver as they find out on the hour what the weather is doing. It is great to see our teams still getting out to play fixtures in spite of the weather.
Staff have worked incredibly hard again, this term, hosting a number of external reviews whose findings continue to show we are moving in the right direction. The Sixth Form Leadership Team, in particular, have done a fantastic job, being top of the Buckinghamshire post 16 league table for progress, but 16th in England for progress (excluding independent schools). This is a huge achievement and credit must go to our students as well. It was great to see their camaraderie during a keenly fought end of term Dodge ball competition.
It is great to see the range of enrichment and extra-curricular activities our students have been involved in over the term, including: Master Chef; Wicked Theatre trip; Wycombe Wanderers visits; MMA; Badminton; various revision classes; Oracy work and Book awards to name a few.
Our Duke of Edinburgh programme is extremely popular and all students who participate on it, recognise they learn a lot of skills from it and push themselves in ways they never thought possible. It is great to see the volunteering side of it, with many of our Sixth Form students opting to support younger year groups in their classes.
Thank you for continuing to support our expansion plan, in particular with keeping Parish Piece traffic free. We should hear the outcome of the planning decision in late March, which if successful, will mean work will start shortly after, bringing a range of up-to-date and modern facilities, such as the Whiteboard Walls being trialled in Maths.
I wish you all a safe and happy half-term.
Kindest regards
Ed Hillyard
