Dear Parents and Carers
Congratulations to all our Year 7 students who have now completed their first term with us. It is great to have met so many of you and to have seen so many of you receive achievement points, in particular for ‘helpful actions’ around the school. Our community is at its best when we all work positively in it.
I have been hugely proud and in awe of what some of our students have been doing both within school, as well as out of school. You will see a small sample of articles outlining some of these successes.
Open Evening was a huge success this term not only because of the commitment of our staff, governors and parents, but also of our students who are very personable and keen to take up any opportunity to speak to prospective families. Seven students really stood out who presented on the stage for both talks and really stole the show. Well done. Great examples of our students taking opportunities and pushing themselves.
Our new Oracy programme is in full swing and I must thank Holmer Green Village Society, as well as others for supporting the school to help interview our students. The Quiz Night and Year 7 Meet and Greet were great events and I must thank all of those who attended, but in particular the PTA for supporting these and raising funds for the school.
Many of our students have taken part in extra-curricular and enrichment experiences this term including two very successful Geography trips, a wealth of sporting fixtures and a great take up of our Duke of Edinburgh programme which goes from strength to strength. Finally, our Sixth Form students are hard at work with UCAS/Apprenticeship applications so I wish them all the best of luck in the process and I am so impressed by a number of our students who have had the determination to apply for places at either Oxford or Cambridge.
I wish you all a safe and happy half-term.
Kindest regards,
Ed Hillyard
