Duke of Edinburgh with a difference
After a turbulent year of plans being up in the air, we are extremely pleased to have been able to facilitate all of the practice and qualifying expeditions for our Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE students. Over 80 students across the three awards rose to the challenge of completing their 'DofE with a difference', finding Covid friendly volunteering, physical and skill activities to complete from home and conquering their expeditions in some very inclement weather conditions.
This year we have seen our students take part in remote research projects identifying penguins in Antarctica, a lot of delicious cooking, beautiful art work and photography projects, litter picking, dog walking, helping the elderly and enough Strava screenshots or home workout plans to make even the assessors sleepy!
It has been a real pleasure to watch the students make the most of this experience and grow their confidence, communication, resilience, and organisational skills in such a short time. We have laughed, we have (almost) cried, we have had blistering heat (and ice lollies) and we have had pouring rain... but most of all we hope the students have made lots of fantastic memories along the way.
A huge well done to everyone involved. If you are a Bronze or Silver entrant, we hope to see you next time!
